My wife and I were on a day trip down to Wabasha, we drove down the Wisconsin side, stopped by the Bald Eagle Center and stopped to get some lunch at Reads Landing on the way home to the Twin Cities. We entered the old style restaurant that kind of looks like an old fire house. We sat down in the center of the bar and they obliged and turned on the Twins game on the 42" flat screen on the wall. I ordered the German Style Kottbusser and it was real good. A little banana flavor, real smooth. I had their flagship American Pale Ale. Very smooth, but not my favorite. It wasn't bad at all. Just kind of average. I ordered a Surly Furious, an old standby, to go with my meal. Always good stuff. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with cottage cheese and berries for my side. The sandwich was AMAZING! I'm not sure if they smoke it in back, but the smokiness of the pulled pork really comes through. I mean, it totally flows through, like you would not believe. The bun was flavorful and perfectly toasted. The coleslaw on top was crispy and not too gooey with dressing. The cottage cheese with the blueberries were a nice touch on the side. My wife got a garden salad with ranch on the side. She gave me her cucumber slices and the ranch made for a spectacular dip. Our server was awesome! She checked on us often and refilled my wife's Diet Pepsi often. She made great small talk and apologized on our food coming out a little longer than normal, since there were a lot of big tables that got there around the time we walked in. Great views of the Mississippi, awesome food, fantastic service, and a great selection of beers make for 5 stars!

Stopped here for a few beers with my girlfriend. Great beer, amazing food. Garlic fries are awesome, so is their homemade BBQ sauce with a great pulled pork sandwich!

Visited on 10/26/2013. Great location. Right along the Mississippi River. I would love to come in the summer, sit outside and watch the traffic on the river. Inside is very quaint. Freshly painted. Clean and comfortable. Menu is short but a wide range of selection. I had the Carolina BBQ pulled pork sandwich and the sweet potato tots. If you like a saucy BBQ, ask for a bottle of sauce to add to you sandwich. We went with my brothers family who live in the area. The enjoyed the burgers, fish tacos and the garlic butter French fries. We also enjoyed a couple of the locally brewed craft beers. I will go back again for sure.

This is a gem of a restaurant. You can't beat the view. We've eaten here three times now and have been delighted. They have a great selection of beers and the food is great. One night we eat here at 7:30, so all of the tables were full. We instead eat at one of the front high tables. It was dark and we got to watch a barge go by, boats going in for the night, and three trains go by. It's was just magical.

Great spot for a great pulled pork sandwich, a few good beers and great views of the river! Good service.

Fun place, good food and great beer. We're from out of state and were visiting 70-yr-old relatives. We wanted to take them out to eat somewhere nice, casual and interesting. Reads Landing fit the bill. When I called, the owner said they don't take reservations, but took my name anyway and said he'd keep a table for us. We came early and the place was packed. He seated us almost immediately - especially nice for my older relatives. He also took the time to chat with us about his brewing - again, I have to mention how busy the place was. Our food was good, nothing outstanding, yet nothing to complain about. My husband and I had their craft beers and both were very good. The ambiance is outstanding! It's located in a historic building, very likely an old general store, based on its large storefront windows. Lucky the people who get to sit there because the windows overlook the Mississippi River and a supreme view. The decor befits the building, including a mural of Reads Landing and other historic photos. We'll be back next time we're in the area! Thanks Bob and crew!

Very cool location down to the Blues playing on the sound system. Outside dining available if you desire with a mice view of the river. Shrimp and Grits are to die for. Make you want to go home and slap yo mamma. Braised short ribs, chicken piccata, and garlic butter fries were the standout. Server Eric was excellent. Very personable without being too "in your face." If you have a chance, stop in. PS I liked the motorcycle parking out front.

Really nice find along the Mississippi River. Very friendly and good service and excellent food. Definitely try the sweet potato tater tots with honey butter. The shrimp and grits appetizer was different, and very tasty. The owners have a very interesting collection of classic beer signs, trays, and labels. This was a fun stop.

Was very surprised at how exceptional the food was here! Not that it appeared to be anything less than that, but to find this nice little treasure tucked away caught us by surprise. The shrimp and grits were fabulous! My husband enjoyed the variety of beer on tap and was pleased with most of them. We will be sure to stop back in the next time we are this way!

What a cool little place, not much else here but worth a stop. We were here on a Sunday afternoon and scored a table outside on the deck. We ordered a beer flight and cheese tray. Both were great. This stays on our list of places we will go again.

A bit torn on this one. (I'll preface this with the fact that I'm a beer nerd.) On one hand all of the house beers I tried were pretty bad. I tried all 4 they had available, the Cremona, Cap'n Amber, Twheat, and the American House ESB on Nitro. The only small $2 sample I could take more than one sip of was the cremona which was a pretty standard cream ale. The rest I were terrible and I pushed them to the edge of the table as far away from my sight as I could. A good server would have inquired to ask if I didn't care of them and taken them off my bill but ours didn't. Granted I didn't say anything. I noticed another couple a table down got the same sampler flight and were making the same disgusted faces when sampling all the beers. I don't think they finished their's either. But... On the other hand, it's a really cool old building that has a nice vibe and overlooks the Mississippi. They also serve some really good guest beers but mostly only in bottles which to be honest is what I wish I would have done. They also have some really good menu items. I had the burger which was great and my wife had the pulled pork. Both hit the spot and were above average. The sweet potato tots were pretty addictive as well. If I'm ever in the area I'd probably stop in again but mainly because there are few options and this blows the others out of the water. I won't be trying any of their brews again that's for sure.

Very good burger. Regret my potato salad was warm as was my wife's cole slaw. Not good when dealing with mayonnaise. Service was very good.

Great setting. Good food and beer. We've been here a few times now and enjoyed all our trips. Definitely the go to spot for a casual meal when you're in the Wabasha area. Start with the shrimp and grits.

I would like to let everyone know that the owner of Reads Landing Brewery reached out to us & reimbursed our credit card the $15.95. He apologized & invited us to come back next time we are in town. Now that is a class act. Thank You for caring.

Great find. Drove out of the way for a chill date night. Perfect spot for us - great beer selection for a river road brewpub, food was great, and people were laid back but extremely customer service oriented. Will be great to come back on Saturday afternoon.

Really liked this place. Doesn't seem like it is in a great location but is laid out really well with a patio overlooking the river and worth the turn off the highway. Great and different food. Definitely would go again and try the beers!

Great lunch today at Reads Landing. Fantastic smoked pork sandwich and garlic fries. Pleasant conversation and brew. Next time hope to get in on the Brisket Hash. This is definitely a "Must STOP" location for a day trip!

Great view of river. Nice patio and inside is really neat. The food was great. Shrimp and grits yum! Garlic fries also great. The beer they brew is ok. Not the best or super memorable but good. They also have a great assortment of bottled beer.

Great place in a historic building overlooking the Mississippi in Reads Landing. I am not a big beer drinker, but I am a fan of their food and their selection of hard ciders! Please try the beet & goat cheese salad, the shrimp grits and the wings! These three items together makes a perfect dinner for two.

The beer was generally very good. The Nightcrawler in particular stood out for its balance of hops and malt. The amber was surprisingly good, given the use of a children's cereal in the mash. The pale ale was solid as well. The food was good, though not great. The jumbo shrimp was fairly tasty and served with a delightful side of chili-glazed carrots. The fries beat out the sweet potato tots, which were a bit too sweet. Fish tacos were decent. They don't offer many vegetarian options and, as expected at a brewpub, most of the food is fried. Wonderful historic building featuring and old tin feeling, brick walls and hard wood floors, and interesting pictures of historic Reads Landing on the walls. Definitely worth the trip!

The Highlights: This place has the best pulled pork sandwich I've ever had and a beer made with Cap'n Crunch. I could end the review right there and it should be enough to pique your interest. The Run-Down: This place is a must-stop if you are making a trek down 61 - and judging by the motorcycles out front, the word has gotten out. A friend of mine and myself stopped by here on a recent trip to Winona and it proved to be well worth the visit. Outside, this place has a good old-timey look. The flat-front brick building looks as though it could be the centerpiece of a town in the Old West, however, it stands alone overlooking a beautiful section of the Ol' Mississip. Apparently, the building has been in the owner's family for generations and they have done an excellent job with up-keeping and up-dating. Heading through the front door, customers are greeted with a wide-open floor plan and a room that is filled with old, classic, worn wood floors and beams as well as many modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs (this is important for a sports fan like myself). There is even a living-room-style sitting area complete with a couch that overlooks the picturesque river-scene out front. The staff was extremely friendly and delivered our beer flights right away. All of the beers had great flavor without being overly powerful. I would describe each of them as good "entry level" beers into their individual styles. The highlight for me was definitely the Cap'n Amber, which utilizes Cap'n Crunch cereal as one of the grains used in the brewing process. While it didn't taste like Cap'n Crunch, the smooth Amber brew was a great mid-range beer with a great balance of hoppiness and maltiness. I could have sat in a window seat and stared at the river with some Cap'n Amber in hand all day. While we were sampling our beers, our server brought me what was the real treat of the day, my pulled-pork sandwich. This sandwich is a "Carolina-Style" BBQ, which means it is sauceless and instead relies on the meats own flavor, coupled with a dry-rub and a bit of vinegar. The meat could not have been more tender. It literally had a velvety mouth-feel. The meat was VELVETY! I could tell just from the quality of the meat that great care was put into the preparation. In addition, the vinegar mix and dry-rub spices were spot-on. I found out later that the owner works with another local to create the delicious combination of meat, spice, and vinegar and that it is smoked right there in Reads Landing. Couple the sandwich with a little 'slaw and some sweet potato tots (complete with honey-butter for dipping) and I was right there in food-heaven. Great food, Great Beer, Great View, Great People. Seems like a recipe for success to me. Make sure you swing by next time you're heading down 61, or heck, hop on your hog and make a specific trip to RLBC and take in the amazing fall colors that the Mississippi River Valley has to offer!

Had a great first time visit last night. The food and service were excellent. I will definitely return soon the try their current pork belly entree special. Unfortunately, I am not a beer drinker so I can't rate their craft beers. I had vodka tonic which was not anything to write home about. I still give them 5stars because their bruschetta was fantastic and their burger with Gouda cheese and garlic fries were delish! Our server was also excellent. This establishment is now on my return visit list!

Pulled off hwy to watch World Cup soccer finals on a large flat screen TV. The brewery is in a beautiful location! Great spot to watch the river in a cool old building. The Weiss beer & other home brew were ok. The folks around us were happy with food (looked good.).

Wow! We stopped by last night after putting the boat to bed... The food was amazing! The service was exceptional. It is a bit pricey, but worth it! We learned the building was the original Anchor In Restaurant. Squash soup served in the squash. So yummy. Definitely worth the trip!

If you're in the area, you have got to stop in and check out what they have done. Great historic building renovation, just like you would make your own bar if you built one. Their craft beers are great as well as the service and vibe. Gets a little crowded on the weekend, but that is because it's good. Other than a bruschetta appetizer that I ordered (not good), the burgers and food are excellent. Can't wait to return to see what craft beers they have on tap.

This place was recommended to us by a friend and I would highly recommend it to everyone. The environment was great and it has a great location. Food was reasonably priced and the beer was good. This place is not somewhere I would go if I was expecting high end food or something super fancy. It is what you should expect for a brewery. Crystal was our waitress and she was top notch.

After my second disappointing experience at Read's Landing Brewing Co. I have decided I should warn other eaters. Last week I ordered the special which was explained by a vibrant and experienced waitress was catfish on a bed of tomatoes over rice. The catfish was hot, fresh and delicious but what she didn't mention was, along with the tomatoes, was cooked okra. Do you know what happens when you boil okra and tomatoes together? You get SLIME. There was no seasonings in this slime either. Their shrimp sandwich was very bland and would have been vastly improved by some aioli mayonnaise or exotic mustard. Also, why do they call themselves a brewing company when they don't brew any of their beers?

Excellent Food, Excellent Beer, Superb Service and great views! The flank steak sandwich was really good, we had it with the garlic fries which were hot and very flavorful. We also tried the daily special which for today, was black eyed peas with andouille sausage, and ham on a bed of rice. The dish was delicious, very tastefully prepared. The beer sampler was really good and our server was very knowledgable and very personable. While we were there, we saw lots of bald eagles, and trumpeter swans. Great food!!! Great beer. And great service

Stopped in yesterday... Had the beef brisket sandwich with garlic butter fries!.... Fantastic! However, was charged an extra dollar for it on the bill vs what the menu stated... I sampled their four beers.... I was surprised to find that the House Pale Ale wasn't as hoppy as I expected... This was a good thing, as I'm not a hoppy fan. I liked the Wagmu Ale (pumpkin) and the Grumpy Old Dunkel! I didn't care for the Cremona Cream Ale. The service and view were great. I will try to stop back down in the next month or two when the Wagmu is replaced with their.....I forget, either stout or porter! Thanks for the good food and beer!

We stopped by while our for a motorcycle ride on a beautiful fall day. We didn't try the food, as we were still FULL from our lunch at the Harbor View. However, we enjoyed a pint of Schells Oktoberfest and sat on the spacious deck and enjoyed the river view. RLBC has a full bar + about a half dozen local craft brews on tap, a good selection of craft bottles as well as the usual bud light etc. for the rubes. The restoration and build out of this historic building is beautiful. Big windows at the front of the restaurant admit lots of light and allow a good view down to the river. A classic tin ceiling is overhead, and there's lots of beer memorabilia on the exposed brick walls. One neat detail was how they laminated old beer labels into the bar top. There was a steady stream of people coming and going during the time we were there, and they apparently had a lot of people in to watch the vikes game. Talked to the owner a bit, he was very friendly. The building has been in his family for 104 years. There's a great photo behind the bar of an old man (the owner's grandpa) standing behind a bar with a young boy (the owner's father) sitting on the bar. The owner plans to start brewing beers there within the year. He will then serve as brewmaster, and someone else will handle all the day to day stuff. Nice touches: free wi-fi, dedicated motorcycle parking, and some lawn games out behind the deck. We'll stop back.

Stopped here while driving up the Great River Road. What a great little find. Good atmosphere, and there are outside spots (weather permitting) to view the river while you are eating and drinking. We went a few weeks ago so I can't give details but, I will try. They have local beers, but don't brew themselves. However, we tried three beers and all three were very good. The burger and sandwich's we had were also really good. It was mid afternoon, so it was pretty quiet, but as we were leaving it seemed that the locals were starting to pour in.

Excellent food, good beer selection, friendly casual atmosphere, good service, nice view of the river, what else could you ask for? So happy we found this spot and hope to make it back! The brisket is excellent as well as the Walleye Po-Boy, couldn't decide which of the two we enjoyed more. Between the tots and fries we came down on the side of the fries but it was close.

Wildly good. Have liked all the specials. Beer and burger good too. Ask about the bun. Service very good and friendly. Haven't had a bad time yet. Looking forward to their own brewed beer on the deck this summer. Surly is good for now. Try it!

We stopped in for a drink and ended up staying for appetizers. I split a beer sampler that included eight oz pours of 6 different local beers...for only $10. It was steal. Order the shrimp and cheese grits. I do believe I said "I could bathe in these." The sweet chili and horseradish dips were interesting compliments to the sweet potato tater tots. The only disappointment was the garlic fries, as they could definitely use more garlic. Great service! While the menu is mostly fried food, they have a great beer list. Highly recommend.

What a delightful surprise to come across this place. Didn't expect such a good place in a this location. Good selection of local brews and an interesting menu with some southern additions from the chef who spent a decade in GA. Food was very good and hospitality was great. Drove past it at first, bit I'm glad I turned around.

Reads Landing Brewing Company food, service, and setting exceeded our expectations. The expectations were pretty high based on Internet reviews and friends input. We strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for casual setting and wonderfully river view.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The food is so good,"it'll make you wanna slap yo' mama." The beer choices go on and on. Service is great and the view of the Mississippi a few feet from the front door is something to love. Next summer, when they start brewing their own beer, I'll sit on the huge deck and relax with one! And eat!
